We are delighted to sponsor one of our tenants, Louise Farrow, in her endeavour to raise money for UK and Ghanaian based charity, Thrive Africa. The organisation offers opportunities for volunteers to work on development projects aimed to promote the advancement of education and relief of poverty across Africa.
Louise, 19, is a second year student at the University of Salford, and is hoping to spend a month in Ghana this year, volunteering on a number of projects such as the children’s home development, library building, disaster prevention and working closely with the Orphan Welfare Agenda, who care for more than 270 orphans across the country.
The Mistoria Group will be contributing £250 towards the minimum £1000 sponsorship required, before Louise can embark on her mission, and together with a 160ft bungee jump at Salford Quay, a 10km obstacle course run in Leeds, a parachute jump and charity cake sales, Louise is hoping she will raise the funds necessary to take the trip. “I chose to volunteer with Thrive Africa as I have always loved helping other people.” says Louise. “I was thrilled when I heard that I had been accepted to volunteer for them and began to plan how I would raise the minimum sponsorship of £1000. Past volunteers with Thrive Africa found that the work they had achieved through the charity really did make a significant difference and positive impact. I am extremely grateful to the Mistoria Group for their encouragement and support.”
No strangers to championing charitable causes, we are active supporters of Help for Heroes and Polio Children and throughout 2014, will be donating 3% of our company profits to charity. “We are delighted to lend our support to Louise and this worthwhile charity and wish her all the very best in her fundraising efforts.” says Mistoria Group’s CEO, Mish Liyanage.
